We met Kotryna very accidentally during 2023 when we were in search of a chemist who would match our values and believe in the missions, visions, and ideas that we wanted to deliver through our brand and products. Very soon after our interviews and first discussions, we realised that Kotryna is more than just the right fit - we truly believe in her enthusiasm, her hard work, and her need to create the best, which is very inspirational. As our founder Zofija believes, it's even more than that, and at the same time, it’s quite simple: ‘Sometimes you meet certain people with whom your souls connect.’
That’s why we decided to give Kotryna some space to introduce and express her thoughts about her personal experience working with BOHEMA HAIR while developing our first-ever product - MULTIFUNCTIONAL Ultra-lightweight Hair Oil and more that's yet to come.
Please, briefly describe yourself and introduce yourself. How and when did you discover your calling in the intersection of science, beauty, and self-expression?
My name is Kotryna and I'm a 27 years old bioengineer by profession, which is a branch of science that combines chemistry, biology, and engineering. I'm grateful that I chose this field of study because it provided me with a broader knowledge base, which I can now apply effectively in my work in the cosmetics industry.
I discovered my calling when I started working in this field because I didn't know exactly what attracted me the most. I wasn't the kind of person who was born knowing they wanted to be a doctor, for example. However, I was drawn to cosmetics from a young age. At home, I used to make hair masks from honey, brew nettle infusions for hair care, and cleanse my face with honey and cinnamon (never do that). So, the attraction to cosmetics was always there, but it took some time to realise that I wanted to connect my life with this industry.
What does the word BOHEMA personally mean to you?
When I hear this word, childhood memories come to mind. The warm sun in the countryside, picking wildflowers with my sister and our puppies, walking through uncut grains to the hill where thyme grows. Bees buzzing around, butterflies flying, the sun warming my shoulders and face. The word BOHEMA reminds me of freedom, light, and warmth.
How would you describe your experience collaborating and creating products for the BOHEMA HAIR brand?
It's an indescribable experience. Receiving an order from such clients is a gift not every cosmetics manufacturer receives. It's a partnership that goes beyond business boundaries and is more than just business. For me, this collaboration is about trust, courage, and understanding.
Perhaps you'd like to wish something for people who choose BOHEMA HAIR products?
I would like to wish you to delve not only into the products but also into the brand's history and meaning. Because there are many cosmetic brands and products, but their stories are unique. I firmly believe that not every brand has as much to tell as BOHEMA HAIR does.
